November 18 (Reuters) – Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has recalled nearly 30,000 Model X vehicles because of a problem that could cause the front passenger airbag to deploy improperly, according to a letter the company filed with the regulator.
Calibration of a restraint control module or set of sensors can cause the front passenger airbag to deploy improperly during some low-speed crashes, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in a Nov. 17 letter.
The problem will be fixed through an over-the-air software update, the company said.
Earlier this month, the world’s most valuable automaker recalled more than 40,000 Model S and Model X vehicles due to the risk of losing power steering when driving on rough roads or after hitting a pothole.
