SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A driver believed to be under the influence crashed into parked cars in Sacramento.
This was filmed by a camera via TikTok, and one of the victims recounts what happened.
“He crashed into my car and then lost control of the vehicle and then crashed into my boyfriend’s truck,” said Alexandria Orduno Lopez, who is seven months pregnant and the victim of the crash.
Lopez said the crash happened on May 15 at around 2:15 a.m. near West Al Court. The apparently intoxicated man made several attempts to move the car before taking off, according to Lopez. She said her boyfriend eventually chased him, but the damage has already been done.
“I had a complete bout of anxiety. What will I do? “I’ve already spent so much money on all our baby stuff because she’s only a few weeks old, and now I’m going to have to deal with all the insurance stuff,” Lopez said.
Rhonda Campbell, with Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, has sounded the alarm, saying DUI accidents are on the rise.
“In the last two years combined, we’ve seen a nearly 20 percent increase in DUI crashes in California, and I think what’s happening is that people are opening up more because of COVID. We go out more, and there are more people on the roads, “Campbell said.
The Sacramento Police Department said it had filed a criminal complaint but no arrests had been made.
Police are now turning to the public for help in resolving the case. If anyone recognizes the man accused of crashing into a car in West Al Court, he can call the Sacramento Police Department.
