Tony Scavo was sitting in his living room watching TV on Tuesday night when he heard loud thunder.
“At first I didn’t even know where it came from and I just said ‘what was that,'” Scavo said.
The grandmother of three told NBC 5 that she scanned the room to see what was happening.
“We got up, the two of us got up and went here because it gives us a pretty good point of view,” she said.
Scavo looked out his window and saw something wrong with the cars parked in front of her building, including her vehicle and her son’s car.
“There have been a number of incidents here, so I kind of automatically thought, ‘Here’s another crazy person doing crazy things,'” she said.
An observation video shared with NBC 5 shows a dark car turning and driving down Block 3700 on Lamon Avenue in Portage Park. Then you can hear a loud boom.
Eventually, the car crashed into a series of parked cars, causing a domino effect. The video shows someone getting out of the car. Scavo said her neighbor told her that they had seen two people change their country before leaving.
“Unfortunately, the police told us, even if they have a registration number, that they cannot prove that the owner of the car drove it. So it hardly helps to get a registration number, “she said. “Unless you actually have someone who has seen this person.”
The main burden of the damage was taken by Scavo’s neighbor’s car, and then her son’s car. She said her son followed the suspect’s car after noticing a trace of liquid from the radiator.
“This man had damaged his radiator in some way. He must have hit him so hard and leaked liquid from the radiator, so you can see the trace of where he drove, “she said. “My son, they followed him, entered an alley, after which he moved far enough away that you can no longer follow the trail. So we don’t know where he ended up. ”
She is glad that no one was injured, but she just wants the driver to do the right thing.
“How did you grow up? Who learned your value system? Where did this happen? “She said.” Don’t you see you’re hurting people, you know, maybe someone’s livelihood is affected. “
Scavo said she had filed a complaint with the police and would begin the claim process with her insurance.
